Hello, Substack readers!

Last week was a whirlwind of activity—I had amazing dinners at Kawa Ni, EDGE Steakhouse at the Four Seasons, and Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar LoDo, where we celebrated my son, Esteban’s 17th birthday! I interviewed Dave and Jenny Marrs of Fixer to Fabulous and submitted stories to Afar and Plate magazines. I also expedited the renewal of my passport ahead of my trip to Oaxaca with Chef Richard Sandoval next week—I can’t say enough good things about how painless the staff at the Colorado Passport Office made everything—and it only took 4 days with a $30 additional rush fee!

I’m spending the rest of this week trying to knock out some work before I hit the road to learn all about Oaxacan cuisine and mezcal culture.

These 15 Publications Will Pay You for Your Travel Stories

There are many, many publications out there that are looking for quality travel content, and many more that may be regional, focus on lifestyle and have travel sections, or those which intersect at travel and another topic (like food). This is just scratching the surface, but hopefully it will boost your confidence in sending that pitch out!

Some publications don’t make their submission guidelines easily available, so a good way to gauge what they’re looking for is to read through their website at length to get an idea of the types of articles they publish and what topics they cover.

1. Travel + Leisure

Pitch: T+L wants fresh takes on destinations for both digital and print and their editorial runs the gamut: family travel, high-end travel, glamping, small towns, active travel, solo travel, and more.

2. Conde Nast Traveler
